About Jay "Shotgun" Gentry

Jay Gentry was raised in northern Alabama on a small farm. The rural setting provided him with lots of opportunities to track small game with his air rifle and to sneak bass out of any neighbor's ponds that weren't watched closely.

At age 18 he enlisted in the Air Force and served 8 years at Barksdale AFB in Louisana. Having only two stripes meant that paychecks were small and running trot lines were a neccesity rather than something fun to do. Jay left the Air Force as a computer tech and moved all over the south in the next few years. For the curious they were Pensacola, FL... Charlotte, NC... Greenville, SC... and eventually Dallas, Tx. Hunting and shooting was a thing of the past for this self proclaimed redneck until in 1999 a buddy said 'Lets shoot some clays'. The only problem...he didn't have a shotgun and needed to find one at a good price. After a prolonged search on the internet Jay determined that there were really no great sites for shotguns on the internet. Seeing a need for one Jay started Shotgunworld.com.



Thirteen years later Shotgunworld has grown into the largest shotgun website on the internet. Currently there are 90,000 members on the forums and 25,000 unique visitors per day.

Two years later another co-worker said 'Let's go duck hunting'. Never having been duck hunting the logical answer was 'Sure, why not'. Twelve years later duck hunting is still a passion that drives him like no other.

Jay now resides in Priceville, AL where he works on computers for a company during the day and maintains Shotgunworld at night. This doesn't allow for much recreational time, but he does manage to go hunting and shooting with his daughter Sabin (24), two... boys Skylar(15) and Spencer(12) and wife Wendy. His two biggest passions are dove hunting and duck hunting. If you need to fill a spot in your duck blind Jay says 'Call him anytime'.
